Remember my post about the spark plugs? Specifically how I mentioned that those little explosions that keep your car moving are caused by the spark plugs? The other component of spark is air. Your air intake feeds air to the engine, which provide fuel (along with gas) to ignite that spark.
No air. No go. The air filter is supposed to prevent airborne particles of dust and dirt from getting into the air flow and gumming up the works, but if your air filter is dirty it kind of defeats the purpose. It’s just good car care to make sure the filter is clean and functioning normally.
Here’s Jeff Wong again, with your basic car care tips of the week. Getting rid of that dirty air filter.
