Here’s a little story about how aggressive driving can catch you Back during the winter I was driving in to work and the driver ahead of the driver ahead of me on Stadium Drive in Kalamazoo out on his turn signal and got into the lane to turn on Rampart by the Ace Hardware. Suddenly, he though better of it and swerved back into the through traffic lane, cutting off the car in front of me. That car swerved into my lane and I had no choice but to slam on my brakes and, of course, this being Winter in Michigan, I skidded straight into a snow bank and got stuck. This is what’s known as a, “cascade failure,” or as I like to call it, “stupid dominoes.” Fortunately the snow was soft and nothing was damaged. I have a 4×4 so I got out without much trouble, but the moral of the story is, “Don’t drive stupid.” The extra 60-seconds that guy saved swerving out of the turn lane, as oppose to just turning around in the Ace Hardware parking lot, almost caused three wrecks. The real irony is that he probably didn’t even notice.
Here’s a funny little infographic to help drive home the point (courtesy of Visual.ly).
